Amy

Amy Duncan

Amy was trained by Houston Ballet’s Sheryl Rowland, The Royal Ballet’s John Adamson, Glen Hunsucker, Jeff Lewis, Sharon Edlund and Keith Cross. Amy was one of the original members of Kingwood Jazz & Co and danced with the company from 1988 to 1995. She has been a dance instructor for 28 years and the Artistic Director of Kingwood Jazz & Co. for 22 years. Amy is an award winning choreographer on the regional and national levels and choreographed the opening number of The Orange Bowl Parade in Miami Florida, the opening number of The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City and also the half time show for The Pro Bowl in Honolulu Hawaii.

As Artistic Director of Kingwood Jazz & Co. Amy has brought great success to the company with many Regional and National Titles and the company was even chosen to travel to London England to perform in a Gala for Dancers Responding to AIDS at the Saddler Wells Theatre.

Amy has had much success in training her students. Many of her students and company members have gone on to be accepted to and attend such collages and training programs such as The Juilliard School, The Alvin Ailey School, Fortham and The Ailey School, SUNY Purchase Conservatory, TISH at NYU, University of Arizona, Boston Conservatory, Point Park University, Marymount Manhattan, Sam Houston State University, Cornell, University of Utah, CalArts, Cornish, and University of George Mason. Some of her Students have danced Professionally in companies such as LA Dance Project, Ballet Hispanico, Alonzo Kings LINES, Norwegian Cruse Lines, Dance Works Chicago, Radio City Rockettes, Chuthis, Spamalot, The Lorel Dance Troup, Andre Dance, Bare Dance, Marie Torres, Bad Boys of Dance, New Generation Ballet, Sonya Tayah, Neville Dance Theatre and Catastrophe.
